Adobe's New AI Tools Give PDFs a Brain
Word count: 466 Estimated reading time: 2 minutes
Adobe is jumping on the AI bandwagon with its new AI Assistant for Acrobat and Reader. This conversational engine lets you ask questions about a PDF's content and get quick answers - no more scanning through pages trying to find what you need.
It's like having a personal assistant for your PDFs. You can ask things like "What were the key takeaways from this meeting?" or "What's the deadline for submitting the proposal?" and AI Assistant will dig through the doc and pull out the relevant info.
The assistant also generates summaries of long PDFs so you can get the gist without reading the whole thing. And it makes citations, links, and formatted text to easily pass info along in emails, presentations, and reports.
This could be a game changer for researching, reviewing contracts, summarizing reports - you name it. No more squinting at tiny text on your phone or getting lost in long documents. AI Assistant has your back.
Adobe says they trained it using the same AI models as Acrobat's Liquid Mode, so it understands PDF structure and content better than other tools. But don't worry, the assistant respects your privacy and doesn't store or access documents without permission.
For now, it's free for Acrobat and Reader users during the beta test. Adobe plans subscription add-ons later when it's out of beta.
It's joining the party a little late following Microsoft and Google releasing AI doc summarizing. But Adobe's assistant goes beyond summarizing with conversation, citations and formatting. And with 3 trillion PDFs in the world, it could be a game changer for productivity.
Imagine AI review and editing tools in the future - this is just the beginning. Adobe wants to reimagine how we use and create digital docs. About time our PDFs got a brain!
