ChatGPT just added a new feature. Now you can access other AI models directly in ChatGPT chats. This makes ChatGPT more useful.
How Does the New Feature Work?
Before, ChatGPT chats only used the main ChatGPT model. But now you can swap in other models with slash commands.
For example, type "/Codex" to bring in the Codex model. Codex is good at coding. Ask it to debug code or suggest coding ideas.
You can also swap in Davinci, Curie and Babbage models:
Davinci is great for general chat.
Curie is skilled at searches and translations.
Babbage can answer basic questions.
This lets you switch models fluidly. You can pick the right one for different needs.
It Keeps the Conversation Flowing
A big benefit is keeping context between models.
You don't have to explain again when you swap models. The new model builds on what you already chatted about.
For example, ask ChatGPT for movie suggestions. Bring in Curie to get reviews for a title. Then go back to ChatGPT to discuss options. No repeating yourself!
Trying Out the New Feature
Right now, the feature is rolling out slowly to some users. Over the next weeks, OpenAI will expand access more widely.
This lets them test it at a big scale. Keep an eye out for when you can try it yourself.
